Exclamation Engine Size?

From your experience..is the V6 for a 1997 F-150 supercab 2X4 too underpowered for this truck? Would the V8 actually get better gas mileage then the V6 because it is not working so hard? Thanks...

Depends on how you use the truck. If you are working it like a heavy duty hauler it will likely suffer performance and mileage. The larger engine would be more practicle for that purpose. If it is primarily transportation with occasional light to moderate loads then the V6 will likely do you fine. Overall I dont think the V6 gives enough added fuel economy to justify loss of heavy duty capability, but cost wise it is cheaper.

I have the 4.2 V6 and it's just fine.

If your not planning on pulling big trailers it will be fine.

I pull a two place snowmobile trailer with two sleds on it with no problem.

I pass on the hwy with no problem.
