door pannels
I got some nice shiny screws that have little bezel washers attached to them (bought at an auto parts store). I think they are #8 screws, either 1/2 or 3/4 inch long. I held the door panel in place on the door, or used what I had left of the stock push-in panel fasteners, and then drilled a small hole in each corner of the door panel, and one in the top middle and bottom middle. All were in the little groove that goes around the edge of the panel. Make sure the drill bit is a little smaller than the screw, so the screw will have something to grab. Also make sure the window is up, so you dont accidentally put the drill bit through the glass. Then screw in the screws. Be careful not to overtighten, the door panel can crack if excessive pressure is applied. Yeah, I put a little crack in one corner. I dont think anyone noticed it. The metal screws may or may not rattle or squeek against the panels. If they do, then get some rubber washers to put between the screw and the panel. You can find them small enough to fit under the bezel of the screw so they wont be noticeable. Or you could pick some up when you get the screws and install them without waiting to see if it is going to squeak. I have only had problems with one screw squeaking, and thats because it was coming loose.
I like the chrome-looking screws, I also use them for the instrument cluster panel, radio bezel, inside the door handle armrest, etc. But if you dont want the shiny screws and desire stealth mode, they make the same screws in a black finish. They were right next to the bling screws at the parts house. Most hardware stores would carry them also. I'll post a pick in my 74 f100 gallery tomorrow.
Good luck
