Another NO Start Thread
My son drives this as his daily driver. It has a 351 with all the goodies. Recently the check engine light had been going on and off intermitently. I the plan was to check it out this weekend. The other day as he was parking at school he said it was runnung very rough and sputtered to a stop just short of the parking spot, he was able to start it one more time to get it in the spot but we have not been able to start it since.
It has good fule pressure at the rail and makes all the right noises when turning the key. But just no go!!!! It turns over and over and over but no start.
At this point would it do any good to start pulling codes? Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help!!!
Phil
It will store some codes, and can do some self-diagnostics while the engine is off. It can do more with the engine running, but take what you can get.
Keep in mind that the code does not necessarily correspond to the problem. But it will tell you symptoms that the computer is aware of, that you may not be aware of.
Will it fire up with the throttle wide open (floored)?
Mine had simmilar problems with a plugged egr port and/or bad egr valve. Wouldn't start unless you floored it. Then it would kick over for a few seconds and die.
Could be the tfi module.
Could be timing related.
Could be a lot of things.
Check the codes.
"could be a lot of things."
I have never had to use the diag computer before and wasn't sure it would help once it was dead in the water.
Phil.
