To do my test you need the glowplugs out of the truck. connect a wire around threads and connect to battery negative then while holding glowplug by the threads and ground wire touch stud or terminal end to pos of battery. The plug should immeadatly get hot and might spark when touching pos terminal. No spark no heat =no good
an easier way is to take a test light and hook one end to the pos of yar battery. take the other end to the glow plug terminal. and touch it if the light comes on good plug no light burnt plug.
i replaced the bad plug but i still have a short cycle (3-4secs) the truck has a hard time starting even when it is warm on occasion. new oversize napa batts, new alternator, regulator and belts. it turns over slowly, and sometimes when i turn off the key wait a few secs and try again it will start up, any suggestions? thanks, john
try checking bat connections at starter. Or it could be a bad starter. If you have the delco starter it is usually slower than the more exspensive mitubishi starter.
thanks 84diesel, i will check starter connections in the morning. it would be nice if thats all it is, but with this truck so far if it could be bad it ussually is, thaks, john
