When I hit in between 50-55 mph, my truck violently shakes...when I reach 60, things are just fine. The wheel aligned and balanced. Anybody have any suggestions?
JohnDiesel, how much did it set you back to get rid of that dual-*** flywheel? And what did you use as a replacement? I may have to do the same thing. Thanks.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Nov-02 AT 11:49 PM (EST)]New LuK solid mass flywheel and new clutch, $1100. AAMCO told me that the combined price for the new flywheel and clutch was half the price of a new Ford dual mass flywheel only. I feel much better driving my truck now. The vibrations were driving me knuts.
As you have no doubt determined by now, you have dual mass flywheel symptoms. I replaced the one in my '96 F-350 a couple months ago. Cost at the Ford dealer for new flywheel and clutch: $1,700.
Does it do it at a certain rpm in all the gears, or is it just at that speed? What year is the truck, the late models have a single mass flywheel from the factory (started in the 99 or 00 models I think). It sounds to me like it might have a u-joint going south, or the driveshaft carrier bearing.
