Ozark International Raceway. Small mom and pop Drag Strip. Not too far from you. I get off at the Marshfield exit and usually grab dinner at Darcy's(?). Then drive on down to Rogersville and Drag race my lil' diesel pickem' up. Friday night's, during season, they open the gates at 5:30pm and start the racing at 6:30-7ish. Costs $10 to run whatever you're driving and I think it's $20 for observers. They follow NHRA rules. Under 13.99 1/4 needs a helmet, etc. It's a blast. I've gotten addicted to racing there. Everone laughs when they see me pull up to the line in a diesel with a helmet on, but they aren't laughing when I come back through. Nobody really knows what these diesels can do yet.

Ok ok. I have been to that drag strip a lot when I was younger. I didn't know it was still operating. It is still 1/4 mile then? Would be interesting to go some Friday night. Let me know when it starts up again. I am not sure where the marshfield exit or darcy's are.

They would certainly laugh at my overloaded explorer (read snail) out there. No helmet required I am sure.

No problem Brian. I'd be happy to keep you posted and let you know when I plan on going. I haven't gotten my 1/4 times since my last round of mods so I'm very anxious to get down there again. It'll probably be easier coming from AR to just go straight to the track. Do you know the guys at Brian's Truck Shop? They come up sometimes too. they're from Lead Hill, AR.

Nobody would laugh. I saw an old guy there in a 49 merc that didn't even look street legal. Old bald tires, rust everywhere and the engine looked original and NEVER tuned. lol I think his best time was in the low 20's but he was having fun an that's all it's about! Well, unless I see a ricer. Then it's about enough smoke that h has to turn on his lights and he 'thinks' he's faster than a big ol' diesel. ROFLMAO

Cool! Sounds like fun. I have never been "ON" a track.

No..I didn't know I had a truck stop.

Why don't I just go get the mirror mounts from myself that I have been looking for?

Cool!

Sounds like a blast! I live 2 miles north of the Marshfield exit (exit 100, I-44), so it's not far for me at all. Toughest part will be having friday evenings free..... Oh, and Dancy's is a good restaurant, but not my favorite here. If you get in the area, check out the mexican restaurant here: http://www.rvexpressrvpark.com .

Kewel! Thanks Tom. Could use that instead of NOS. I'll let you know when I'm coming next and maybe we could meet up, have dinner and go play.

Well I'm not new in here and I was supposed to go to the Feb 06 GTG but the weekend that it happened I was out of town and came back early to go only to discover that someone had burglarized my house so I had to deal with the cops and couldn't make it.
