Question 150 lb wheel lug torque??

In the owner's manual it states a 150 lb lug nut torque rating. That seems quite high but I talked to my dealer and he says they usually use 120 lb but some lug nuts are actually stamped for 150 lb torque settings and they do torque those to 150 lb.

Anyone have any idea why the torque setting is so damn high? Can you imagine the little woman changing a flat?

I know it's been that high since at least 01. My 01 lug nuts had 150ftlbs stamped on them. My 98 was 100. They also had a recall on the 98 for lug nuts that would not stay on.
