I am looking for recommendations on shop lights.
I have already epoxy primed the cab, doors, and fenders and noticed I have missed spots (not a problem as I still have more primer to go). But I dont want to make the same mistake with the BC/CC.
Are any particular type of lights preferred over others (such as those halogen work lights vs florescent tubes)?
The choice of diy'ers and most pros, is flourescent lighting, for even and realistic lighting.. I put 4 - 48" 2 lamp f40 t12 fixtures, mounted end to end on the each side wall of the garage, to light each side of my truck, with them mounted 32 " above the floor. On the ceiling, I used 8- 2'x4 'fixtures with 4 - f40 T12 lamps in each one of them. The F40T12 daylight lamps seems to give the right "tint" to match the natural outside sun light. If your a energy "awareness " person, you can make those F32 T8 lamped fixtures with electronic ballasts, but they will drop some in candlelight power. The f40 t12 lamps showed all my errors very well on my bc/cc job, but I was able to see them and correct them after all . If you cant see what your spray pattern is doing when it hits the metal, you may be disappointed when your project gets out in the sun, because the full sun and street lights are unforgiving. Try to get all the light that you can afford on your vehicle, without glare of course, all imho, good luck on your project
I use 4 - 48"ers (double lights) over the vehicle. Each side also has 4 - 48"ers (I mounted mine vertical). Both ends have 1 double 48"er. They all use the color-correct lights Greg was talking about.
