Has anyone modified their rear backup lights? Can't see a damn thing backing up with the stock setup. I saw on another discussion site, a guy bought a remote kit from Walmart. I was wondering if there were other alternatives.
Yes Rick... as many alternatives as there are users here @ FTE :-)
Check my gallery out for the auxilary ones I did for about $25 and an hour or so...
Then my stock reverse bulbs were swapped for 55W bulbs from JC Whitney to help a bit more...
I did this when I first got the beast... but now that I'm used to (and TRUST) the backup sensors - I don't need them as much...
Speaking of switch locations.... they didn't offer fogs on the 2000 X, so I have picked up a set from a SD. I don't want to buy a new headlight switch, and I noticed the connections for the relay and fuse are not in the fuse block. I noticed in my Reapir Manual, a photo of one of the dash panels with two switches. One is the rear defroster. What is the other? The backup alarm? My X only has the defroster switch, so I was thinking of picking up the other panel and using the second switch for the fogs.
Those KC auxillary backups look great JD. Just ordered me a pair. I'm also going to replace the bulbs in the stock lights as well. BTW, that Westin Bull Bar setup looks awesome. Do you use the whole setup at once, or do you use the 520s in special situations? You mentioned earlier about some type of free mod, where the highs and fogs stay on at the same time. Where do I get this?
I can use it all at once... but rarely do..
typically I use my lows and the stock fogs below the bull bar...
only when I won't blind anyone do I turn on the 520's...
I basically adjusted all 3 pair of lights to cover a different height..
the fogs low on the ground...
the piaa's long range
and the headlamps a little lower than that so all the road is lit up if need be...
Whew! Now I'm really confused. I think I'll just stick with putting in new bulbs for now and possibly get the Brite Box down the line. I do like the mod where you use the fog lights for day lights in combination with the parking lights. That seems nice.
