Some do not like Fram filters and some do. I do not as I have seen problems like lifter noise on start up using them. I have switched to Motorcraft, Napa or in a pinch Super Tech filters. If I had a good place to get some I would run Wix as they are also good.
Will it hurt anything to use? Most likely not.
Fram filters are good enough, just not worth the premium price you pay. They aren't any between the Wally SuperTech but cost 1/2 again as much ($2 versus $3+).
Actually, the fleetcare filter is pretty good, and about the same price as Purolator or Motorcraft. I have used all of them and (IMO) there is little, if any, difference between 'em.
Just a thought on filters. Bought a F1 w/302. Had a fresh oil change drove it home it ran 30 psi hot. Didn't think much about it went to get a fram and they were out. Ended up at the local auto part store got a Wix. Oil pressure now runs 38 hot. Castrol GTX 10/40 both times
