I need a little info. The gas pedal linkage, on my 1977 f-150,that connects to the carb has threads on it. I took it off and winded it the whole way back. This seems to do nothing. Can anyone tell me what the darn thing is for?
When you adjust it, be sure that flooring the pedal opens the carb all the way. I've seen several vehicles with 'lack of power' due to the pedal not opening the carb all the way. And I've also heard of people purposely adjusting it that way to 'slow their kids down'. Just a thought.
With the engine off...I usually disconnect the linkage, have someone hold the pedal to the floor, then move the carb throttle all the way back and adjust the linkage so they line up. That way you know the carb is all the way open when the pedal is on the floor.
The throttle can open only so far, regardless of how far down (back) you adjust that linkage. If you adjust too far you can put a strain on the linkage.
