Wow...thanks! So its an early build 56...about a month into production. Thats great to know. 47437 in production that year, so did they start at 10001 like some other cars? I was glad to see it was built on the san jose line, I have a few 69 mach 1's that were built there too - very cool that they share that.
The color still is odd to me. It doesnt look like the 57 color, its much lighter...and if its an early 56 I dont see how it could use a year later code. It may be a mis-stamp, but is old haul's that way too?
I read the D code was a I6 223 CID for that year....so it was a factory v8?
Thanks again, looking forward to learning more about these trucks.
You really can't trust the 'look' of the paint colors from charts on line. If you look below here is the paint chart for my trucks color and then the actual color on the truck.
Thanks again. I spoke with my father tonight, he said he remembers the 6 having a woodpecker, so he yanked it and bought a 292 out of a crown vic that was totaled. The owner of the vic was a parts man at the ford dealer, guess he put bigger valves in it and some other hotrod tricks at the time (late 60's) It has a 2v, and even on our farm it always made 20+ mpg...until parked in 1989. I havent started it yet, the pic was taken this week of it in the shop. Probably will pull it and tear it down rather than trying to fire it now.
