Has anyone ever converted a 63 f250 2wd 8 ft bed to a 4x4 using a newer frame and drive line? I am looking for what year frames will work and how difficult it is to do this. Do the cab mounts line up and is the wheel base correct?
Well, I'm in the process right now of doing that to a 64, which is pretty much what your asking. I included a link to my gallery. Look thru that and see if that helps you any. If you have ANY questions feel free to drop me a line. I have learned a ton on this project! Good luck, Phil
It sounds like this is quite a bit of work from what I have been reading . It looks like the 63 steering column needs to be changed to exit thru the firewall. Due you know if a 65 or 66 2wd f250 would be a bolt on conversion using a 79 4x4 frame and driveline?
I haven't done that swap, but from what I have read and heard it comes a LOT closer to being a "bolt-on" that the earlier cab. The cab fits, but there's still the wheelbase issues.
Take a look around over on the Slick 60's site and ask some questions. Those guys will know.
Good luck, Phil
See below:
Hey phill,
Do you know if the cab mounts on a uni are in the same place as the 64??
Because I am planning to put a 63 uniboby on my 77 highboy chassis
Thanks
John

John, I don't know about the uni's. I'd think they'd be the same as the non - uni's to keep from having different frames for those years, but that's just a guess. Somebody will chime in here in a bit to answer that one. Phil
