Stock 352 Timing

what is the best timing to run, or should i say factory setting on a 1965, 352 bone stock motor. What should the timing read at low idle with vacuum advance unplugged.

Want to get my old 352 running the best it can and leave the two barrell on it.

Hi PB, Well, the idle should be between500-575 for M/T, 475-500 A/T in drivetiming is 6 degrees BTDC, does say that to get best performance and/or altitude useage timing may be advanced 5 degrees over normal. anything more wont affect performance or MPG if you go over 5 degrees
Max vacuum adv limit is 14 degrees at arond 2K rpm.

Hope this helps....camperspecial65

Can I tag along a bit on this? I put electronic ignition and new coil on my 352, and it ran nicely without additional timing. Is the vacuum advance still serving a purpose on the distributor? If not, should it be removed? Is a timing check/adjust still advisable/possible?
