Last night when I got in my '01 F150 5sp, I pushed the clutch in to start it. Almost immediately the truck started to creep, then when I pushed the brake the engine died. I thought that either the slave or the throwout bearing had given up. (only 50,000 miles on the truck). I managed to get it home and found the reservoir empty. I filled it up and drove it all day and the clutch works fine and no more fluid loss. There did appear to be some fluid coming from the bell housing last night but absolutely NONE today after several hours of use.
Has this happened to anyone else? I wonder if a pice of debris could have gotten under the lip of one of the cups in the throwout bearing cylinder. I hate to pull it apart and replace the bearing if it was just debris. Suggestions?
If I had to guess I'd say that you're going to find it runs out of fluid again before too long
I've never seen a leaking slave cylinder stop leaking for any length of time.
The newer ones, such as you have, dont leak nearly as often as older ones but I've seen a few that did.
some of the fluid that you found was infact hydro or something eles just wondering when you pressed in the clutch did the pedal come back slow or remain to the floor I ask this because it can be the master check the carpet under the dash
