Question "Vortex" Whirring Sound

The problem - When my 99 4.0L Ranger gets in hotter weather, the air box (right at the mass air sensor) begins this whirring sound like a vortex of air. Replaced the MAS and still makes the noise. Now that spring and summer are approaching the vehicle will begin the noise again. Any thoughts or ideas as to what is going on and what I can do to remedy the noise?

Might be a noisy IAC. Check out the "technical information sticky" & click on "4.0 idle air control valve"

Yup it's probably the IAC valve. I swapped mine out on the '99 I had and it cured the problem.

Thanks guys...what a quick response. I used to use one of these forums during my early bronco days www.classicbroncos.com if anyone interested. Leaving to work on the unit right now! No more "Fog Horn" at the lights.
