I have a 1999 350 7.3 diesel 4x4 with 140k miles. I had the dealership replace my balljoints 4months ago. Since then I hear a rattle clunking noise @ the left frontend. I took Yeti's advice and replaced my shock bushings, which were bad,Also checked my swaybar bushings they were fine. Greased the slip yoke which it needed. Could someone help trouble shoot this problem it has been driving me nuts. This noise seems to occur when hitting small bumps. Sounds like it may be near my lock-out or u-joint area. Thanks for this web-site and your help.
Do you still have the OEM wheels with the little hub caps? You don't say if you have DRW, but I do and those little rattling contraptions almost ran me crazy until I figured it out. I had to put some duct tape on the openings to quiet then down.
Todd,
The track bar is the bent/curved bar that attaches from the frame to the front axle. It goes from one side of the frame to the other. In your year model, especially, the bushings and brackets were flimsy.
