I just replaced the headlight bulbs on my 03 F250 SD CC 5.4L 4x4.
Is there an easier way to replace the left side bulb?
I managed to get a good grip on the right side next to the battery. but the other side was a major pain in the butt.
I had to remove the evaporative canister that was in front of the other bulb so I could get my hand in there to get a good grip.
I even had my wife try (her hands are much smaller) and still no luck.
I cannot beleive that we all have to go through that just to replace a bulb.
Please tell me I was stupid and that there is an easier way......
Easiest fix - take it to the dealer. They have a guy, they keep in the back room, who has real long arms and tiny little hands and specializes in those hard to get to spots.
I thought it was not the easiest thing to get to on BOTH sides !
even did the drivers side a day or two later because I didn't want to fight both of them the same day :-)
We are talking about just the bulb, right? It took me 10 minutes max both sides.
I might be missing something, but all I had to do was pull the connector, then unuscrew (twist off) the flange and install the bulb. Then twist and connect.
Of course I had to be real careful not to touch the glass of the bulb, but, still....
It seems that easy but in reality, I could not get enough of my hand on the flange to turn it. They must have added/moved stuff on the 03 that made it real tight. As I said, the only way I could get a strong enough hold on that plastic flange was to unbolt the evaporative canister, move it out of the way and THEN I could get my hand on it. After that, it was easy, remembering not to touch the bulb... Now I have nice bright PIAA's in the truck. I ordered new fog bulbs too. What do I have to look forward to on those?????
want an 03 to 03 tip there on the fogs?
pull the grill first and then it's a piece of cake !
4 or 5 screws on the top... (leave one in until all clips released on bottom...
4 or 5 clips on the bottom... and it's done...
only caveat is be careful - it's light fiberglass...
use a LARGE flat blade to free the clips on the bottom from one side to the other...
when putting grill back on... pull clips from truck and mount on grill to push them back in....
