i just bought a 1979 f-150 it hasnt been ran in 4 years, so i went to get the truck i put a new alterntor, fuel pump, battery, and belts. i really didnt think it was gonna start but i poured a little gas in the carb and put about 5 gallons in the front tank and she fired right up. he parked it because he changed the tranny filter and stripped a couple of bolts on the pan so it leaked fluid really bad. i still have to fix that problem. the inside needs to be cleaned up and theres a few dents on the body. so to cut this short im about to get the body straight and primer the whole truck then ill decide to keep it or not. if i dont does anyone know what i might be able to get for it?? thanks im glad i found this site i also have a 1979 f-250 with the 460 and i have a 1979 bronco completly restored with a 460 nitrous injected motor.
I just bought a 79 f250 project. I'm in the same boat. I bought it because the previous owner had a heating problem that he couldn't figure out. Luckily I have an ace ford truck mechanic who is checking it out from top to bottom. After the check I will decide to keep or not. I've been looking at rebuild cost and think this would be worth it if truck isn't hopeless. I bought the truck for $700 sight unseen. It has the 460cid 127k miles. Good luck and keep me informed - I may need to ask a few questions concerning your f250
Weel, I also just bought a 79 project truck, unseen. Its a f150 4x4 lariat and has had a 460 dropped in where the 351 once sat. The body is rough, but the engine runs and the 4x4 works great. Keep me informed and I'll do the same. I have found a couple of sites for restoration parts. email me if you need them.
