1996 Ford EXplorer

I just installed new brake pads front and rear on my 1996 Ford Explorer. I now feel a shake or front end vibration when I hit a bump in the road. The vibration causes the whole front end to vibrate. The vehicle has 121,000 miles and the tierod ends or ball joints have not been replaced. Any suggestions?

If you only did pads, I assume you didn't need to remove the rotors or bearings. It may sound stupid, but are you sure the wheels are on tight?

I also have a 96 Explorer. Mine only had 80,000 miles on it when it needed all new ball joints, they had almost 1/4" of play in them!

Did you have the rotors turned? Or new rotors?
It does sound silly.... But like the last reply, it is very easy to get the aluminum wheels a little ****-eyed. Even a tire seller did this to me once......

Good luck, Dan

After I installed new rotors, no more vibrations.
