stuck hood

This is my first post...I was looking at previous posts about temperature sending units and it helped me to fix my temp gauge...but after i finished the job, i wanted to take the truck for a drive, and when i closed the hood, it didnt close all the way and now it is stuck...any ideas? when i pull the release under the dash, nothing changes, and the release under the hood doesnt do anything either, the hood will move up and down just a little bit, but it is stuck...i would appreciate any help...thanks

If it's what happened to me you're in for some fun, and yes, I'm being sarcastic. What happened on mine was that there is a little locking mechanism right next to the latch. I must have inadvertantly engaged it and then tried to shut the hood. Result was the hood wasn't all the way closed, but not opened either--just good and stuck.
OK, here's how I fixed it. Got two of my friends, one who had an identical truck so we could look at his latch mechanism real good and know exactly how the parts work together. Then I stood on the front bumper and applied pressure downwards on the hood in the middle by the latch. My one buddy took a long good-sized screwdriver and began to hit it with a rubber mallet on the latch mechanism (remember there's not much space between the not completely closed hood and the latch mechanism) and the other buddy held the flashlight. After a few well-placed hits it freed up the latch enough to open the hood. THEN REMEMBER TO MOVE THE LITTLE LOCK BACK TO IT'S NORMAL POSITION BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO SHUT THE HOOD! After that we oiled the latch mechanism good and that was that. I can't tell you exactly where we hit it or how cause I was above exerting pressure on the hood. I can tell you that even the local Ford garage didn't want to mess with it. Good luck!
