Anyone have the codes for the airbag system for a 1994 f150xlt 4x4? Mine is flashing some codes but I don't have a factory manual to tell me what they are. Thanks!
If you tell us what the flash count is it would be a lot easier than listing all the possible codes. Most common is a 32, three flashes, followed by two, which usually indicates a bad clock spring assembly.
Flash code 32 is high resistance in the driver airbag circuit, which means an open circuit. It could be in the air bag itself, the clock spring assembly, or any of the connectors are loose, pinouts, or broken wiring. It is usually the result of a broken ribbon cable in the clock spring assembly which is under the steering columb shroud, mounted on the steering columb shaft behind the steering wheel. You would need to remove the airbag, steering wheel, ignition lock cylinder assembly, shroud, lower dash trim panel to access the assembly. They are priced variably but usually around 125.00 from the dealer.
Visual inspection and multimeter tests of the wiring are about all you can do at home. Always deactivate the airbag system prior to testing, which means disconnect the battery and wait a couple minutes before proceeding. Remove the airbag and disconnect the air bag monitor and circuit test the wiring for open circuits between the columb and the monitor connectors. If you had dealer air bag simulators it would be a little faster.
