I have a 99 Ranger 4.0 off road model. When I looked outside at the truck today I noticed a puddle under the rear of the truck. I checked it out and it was the drivers side rear shock all covered and dripping with oil. Do these shocks have a lifetime warranty with either ford or the manufacture which I believe is bilstien?
its a 99..... sorry to say its 5 years old..... and shocks should start to be looked at by now..... kinda odd the rear went first..... usually the fronts die sooner because of the weight of the engine..... huh...... get some new ones.... get that new car ride again. goodluck
Joe
oh... i doubt the warranty will cover it.... wear and tare item. sorry
wear and tear. Just like brakes, clutch, etc. If you have an aftermarket warranty, it may cover it, but the deductable isn't worth it, fords shocks kinda suck after a while. 99's do not come stock with bilstiens, only new rangers with the FX4 Level 2 have bilstiens from the factory. I put new bilstiens on my 98 4x4 after about 80k miles and there's a big improvement.
