Sorry Phil,
I haven't seen much of anything for a Ranger when it comes down to aftermarket parts. I'm in the same boat as you, I've got a '99 ranger 4.0 and I cant find a darn thing for it. I mean, its one thing to bolt on a pair of flowmaters, but I'd like to mash my knuckles bolting on headers and and a new intake and maybe even stabbing a lumpy cam in. If anyone knows where we can find aftermarket parts for a '98-'99 ranger...let us know!!
I know they can't really be made for the duratec 2.3s because the harmonic balancer is built into the pulley somehow...I don't know if the 4.0's are like this or not.
Just wanted to say i emaild the guy who runs DZK pullys, and he said cause the 4.0 uses a combination harmonic balancer/pully, that its not a good thing to run on a truck like that. I think he once said that a company made them, but they got alot of people who were callin in saying their new pully just went through the radiator. So the company stopped making them, i believe they are still avalible for the 3.0 though.
I don't know any companies for sure, but you may check Unorthadox Racing.
If you have a balancer/crank pulley combo...... DO NOT USE AN UNDERDRIVE ON THAT ONE! No personal experience, but I have talked to alot of guys when dealing with my Acura that have snaped cranks and worse due to crank pulleys. I am sure there will be some guy telling you "oh it is fine on my truck". Is it really worth the risk. If you want to add afew ponies, you might want to convert to full electric fans, convert to manual steering, and ditch the A/C. If you can live with any or all of those you might gain 4+hp.
guy's, LMC (used to be chevy only) now has full size ford ,ranger, jeep and other replacement part catalogs, 20 in all. 1-800-562-8782 or .LMCtruck.com . possibly case sensitive.
