Thanks for all the info, i just bought the same motor DIVE-A2B to have rebuilt and put in my 1971. good luck with your build.

According to George Reid's Ford Engine Parts Interchange: The 429 crank should have a 4U or 4UA casting #, while the 460 would be a 2Y, 2YA, 2YB, or 2YABC.

I personally would not rely on casting numbers from the Monroe books as they were famous for mistakes. As far as a 2 bolt main you will be fine and still be able to get the big HP you want. I agree with Icicle about mesuring the stroke or another way to identify them 429's have a 4U or 4UA crank casting and the 460's were a 2Y or 2YA crank casting number.
