around my town there is a 1957 ranchero that is real straight, all in black primer (xcept hood which is metallic green),all orig glass in it,has an 84 carb'd 302 RUNS, automatic, new brakes and cylinders, comes with 2 sets of trim, grill, bumpers, a TITLE,seats(not original but hey u can sit in em) and the guy wants 1500 for it. hes sellin it cause he got it to build but has too many cars to work on right now IS IT A DECENT DEAL?
I have seen some real good ones at around $5000,and some at $10-12,000.The way you describe it,it seems solid.Check e-bay or do a google search on some 57's to get an idea of the price of one in the condition that the one you are considering buying.Good luck.
my teacher in auto collision repair said that the guy sellin it does ****ty work - throws his cars together to sell em and make money. that is believable because in our shop there is a 53 studebaker he did that need a new trunk floor, the floor under the seats have been enforced with kitty hair and it oilcans, rust ate away at both quarters in a 16x18 patch...guess what-kitty hair. so i might have to take a closer look at this bad boy first, and one of my friends said that his dad has bought some stuff with 351's in it for around $100...so i am basically gonna have to look at it for myself
57 was the first year for the Ranchero and it could be a sweet ride. I would prefer it if it had the old interceptor engine in it though. My dad had a 58 Fairlane with the interceptor in it and it could haul the mail. They had some really nice lines in those models. Look carefully; it may look good from far but be far from good. Good luck.

yeah i like the lines too. very classic, and very cool. i took a closer look at it but me and my g/f had been fishin for a few hours before that (it was on the way so figured i would stop by) i didnt really check the lower portion of it for some reason, but the bed looked pretty good, top of everything looked ok..lol i guess i didnt get a real good look at it
