So, how about this?

OK, so I know I need to replace my exhaust, but funds are kinda tight, would this set up help my truck breathe better and sound more like a truck or are we talking rice rocket?

http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/...&storeId=10101

Would it make sense to try and wait and save up for a Flowmaster 40 and mandrel bent tubes? I don't want to wake the dead, but I do want an authoritative note, so people know I mean business.

That link is garflugic, tell what product you're looking for.

The Flowmaster 40 will sound good off the line with no cat, but the flipside is an "import" type sound at higher rpms.

Maybe if you clicked on the link you would know, it is a heartthrob exhaust system, cat back, one pipe from second cat to a y pipe, then out into resonator glasspack tips

Wickymustang, when you click on the link, you just get the results of a search for "Ford" that gives you 3752 results. We can't tell you what we think of it because we can't find it. From your description of it though, it sounds like it would work pretty well as long as the extension pipe is 2.5" going into two 2" tailpipes/glass-packs. If the diameters are larger than that on a stock or mildly modified engine you'll run into throttle response and low-end power problems.

I heard that the 40 is super loud and annoying at highway speeds, I don't want headaches from cruising

Anybody got anything to say about it? Has anybody tried it? I am short on cash because I will be going to college next year and I need to make sure my exhaust is good before I leave, and I don't have resources to throw tons of money into this to try different set ups. So...

ok for $230 I can get the cat back system I mentioned, anybody got anything to say about the cat back heartthrob exhaust system? It connest to the pipe coming off the second cat, and then goes into a y pipe, after that it goes over the rear axle and exits through stianless tips. Will this sound decent? Will it give me any performance gains? I want to let my engine breath better as it seems to make the 6 work better and get more milage.

I gutted my rear cat and put on a Flowmaster 40 series muffler with a turn down and it isn't that loud. Idle sounds great all the way up to 2500 rpm's. after that it sounds like a vacuum cleaner with a supercharger on it. I like it and it only cost me $75.00.

I would say I got better throttle response. Probably more power. It is hard to say because I got bigger tires about the same time. I am pretty sure I got a little better mileage also. It is the cheapest way to go and if you don't like it you just add on the rest later. By the way, I have heard if you go with bigger tubing you loose low end torque.
