Hello lad. I will have it ready soon. As you have probably noticed I have not been posting much lately. I have not had time to remove the engine and transmission due to my work schedule. Soon though and I will approach you first. Ed
Is it a pretty safe bet the T-85 with the R-10 OD will simply replace the 3sp manual tranny I currently have in there with my 223? Appears to be the same bolt pattern, so I guess shaft diameter, number of splines, and overall length of transmission and OD housing should be the only questions.
ED, I have a 302 and an AOD that we might do some swapping. What kind of shape is your 292 in? I also have the 302 crossmember that I would let go with it if we swapped. Just a thought
Ok first there are kits to put a T-5 in your truck already. I have heard of the T-85, the rug and the 5spds in the big trucks. These appear to be very rare or someone is stashing them where we cannot find them. Bubba I like the 302 but since I have been doing my research I am finding good deals on the 312, the 292 pf choice and the 351 EFI. In fact I have a good deal on a 4.6 DOHC Cobra motor with transmissioin and all wires if I want it. NOw its just trying to make time to decide which way to go. Now I am leaning toward a 292 or a 312. Next week I may want that 5.8. Hell I do not even know ny name most of the time since I bought this truck. Ed
ED ,
Welcome to the wonderful world of old trucks and the restoration thereof. I have the original 292, a 302 and a 352 and can't decide exactly which way to go. I'm leaning to the 302 but the call of the 292 still is hard to resist. That's why I offered mine as a swap. Good luck with your decision. remember to post lots of pictures and diagrams.
