Question Time for a new engine

My engine in my 96 ford F-150 has an 4.2 V6 but its worn out. Could I change to a bigger engine without having to do any special adjustments.

I beleive you can go to a 302 or 351W V-8 with just motor mounts & a different computer.

You might have to swap trannies also, that all depends on what you have in there for a transmission.

You might have better luck in the 1996-2003 trucks forum, 96 was a transition year, and both old and new models were made. The "old" trucks here have the old model engines, the 300, 302, 351, and so on. The bigger engine you would want would be the 4.6 or the 5.4 liter, those are the new model engines and would work more easily with your truck.

Good Luck.

Question Confusing Ranger?

I have a 2002 ford ranger that I bought about a 19 months ago on a preowned certified deal. Its in excellent condition but it has a slight rattle to it when you get down in it a little harder than normal. It has the 4.0 V6 in it and has plenty of power I've tried all three types of fuel but I normally run 93 octane from the better stations such as Shell or Texaco. But no matter what it still rattles its under warranty doesn't burn any oil doesn't run hot shows fine on the computer but that rattle gets irratating from time to time. Any thoughts to what this might be would be appreciated.

Unhappy

Its a rasping type of sound kinda like a sound you get when your going up a steep hill or pulling a heavy load when the engine lugs out only it does every time you take off a little faster than normal.
