Engine question!!!
My uncle is working on a 1982 f-150, and swears that it has a 3.8 V6. I told him that he is full of crap. To my knowledge it would either have a 300-6 or V8. I told him that it is not original, and he swears that they made them(he is polish) Can someone please let me know that I am right!

from factory my 84 came with a 4.9l in-line 6
your uncle is wrong thats an add-in from my memery. is thats a small block or big block if small block ford never put small blocks in the f-150.

Actually, there is a v6 option on 80-86 fords--almost bought one last week in fact. Also, 300 (I6), 302 and 351's (v8) are all considered smallblocks (and are in the majority of f-150s seemingly). Don't mean to step on toes...

ok so im wrong i don't know much about trucks here this is my first 80's truck but not vehicl (excuse my spelling) worked on a lot of chevys yuck and i thought i6 was big because it looked bigger than what was in my moms chevy van

80-86 fords did come with the option of a 3.8L v-6...personally, i would never own one...a v-6 is for a car or a mini-van, in my opinion...gimme my 300-6 any day and i'm happy....for a v-8, gimme the 351W...
