I am new to the site! I am wondering about the 2000 model V-10. I have heard that it gets really bad gas mileage. What kind of gas mileage does it get. Can you up the gas mileage with aftermarket applications. Does the gear ratio in the rear end control the gas mileage of this truck. Are there any aftermarket gears that anyone could recommend if so. This particular truck is a lariat model with 96,000 miles on it with an automatic tranny. Does this tranny hold up good. Will I be happy with this truck! How long does the v-10 motor usally hold up. Is this truck worth 13,900!
The V10 was...is...and willbe bad on gas......do search in this forum....been covered hare many times....the rear gear will be either 3.73 of 4.30....of course the 3.73 will be better on fuel.....but only in highway applications. As far as aftermarkter accessories.....not really....many claims but very few cases were pickup in economy were 1/2 MPG. My suggestion is get used to it. The automatics have good reputations.......the price seems about right. Good luck.
What is the amount of gas mileage that I should expect out of this 2004 v-10.
what should in town be and what should highway be.
how much better will the 3.73 gears be on gas versus the 4.30 gears!

Although, I will say that considering the heft, the number of cylinder, the fact that it is a LEV and that it'll last for many, many miles it gets GREAT mileage compared to its predecessors.
As far as prices...well you didn't state what model it is.
Also, your last post said something about it being a 2004 but your first post said 2000. Which is it?
Did you happen to see the search button up top? It'll show you LOTS of posts concerning these very subjects.
City about 9 to 11 and highway 12 to 13. That's about it....no aftermarket accessories will change that by any significant amount.....like I sad before 1/2 MPG tops!!!!!!! I drive about 400 miles a week. About 50/50 highway to around town......I use 87 octane. I fill up every 3 to 4 days. Spending on average $32 bucks. Spending around $180 a month on fuel.

I agree, I have a 2000 V10 F250SD with 140,000miles.
I get an average 11mpg with a 60/40 highway/city split with no load or towing.
A 90 Litre fill-up cost me $65 Canadian.
i have the 2000 sd, crew cab with 3.73s. i live in colorado and drive about 40k miles a year. i commute from the mountains to the city everyday so i am pulling grades to get home everyday. i am getting about 13 miles to the gallon on average. and can get better on long trips.
i started using 85 octane since gas prices started to rise and noticed two things, more power and better mileage. i know ford says 87 octane but mine flat out runs better on 85. my sd gets better mileage than my 2001 f150 ever did.
