As soon as I have a little more cash on hand I would like to buy some headers and run true duals out the sides. I'm looking for performance, better fuel mileage and of course a nice deep sound. Keeping that in mind I don't want to spend a fortune (since I don't have one). I've been looking at Hooker, Bassani and Hedman headers but don't know whats good. (want to spend under $250 US). I will take off the Catalytic converters (put covers over straightpipe to pass inspection.) and then I am not sure, since I have a fairly new muffler, if I should just buy a second stock muffler or go with 2 new ones, maybe a pair of Flowmaster 40's - not sure of the price tho. If anyone has any imput on this - header type? kits without catalytic converters? should I just get a shop to make up an exhaust system and supply them with the parts I want??? Any input is welcome and thanks in advance!
Flowmaster series 40 are about $80/ea., and a good set of headers will run right around $200 - $300. An exhaust shop will generally charge around $150 to put it all in, so you're looking at right around $550 for the whole deal. Not bad, really for the whole thing.
gibson, bassani and jba are supposed to be they best brands of headers to get. I think it is sort of a hassle to get the exhaust pipe around the transfer case when running duels but it can be done.
These brands of headers usually run $400+. The ceramic coated headers are supposed to be best cause they help keeping in heat. Many say its worth spending the extra bucks for a nice set of headers but you gotta do what u gotta do.
I will keep that in mind; do you know if you can run the pipes on either side of the transfer case or if they have to both go to one side? Thanks again!
