63 Dual master Conversion

I just added two pics of my master cylinder conversion to my gallery. Altogether the conversion cost about $125. It was easier to do than I expected. I replaced all the lines except the two front brake hoses, but I probably will go ahead and order those. The cost breaks down like this:

15.00 (advance auto parts) 68 galaxy master cylinder.
20.00 (napa) pre-flared lines and fittings
55.00 (Southern Rods & Parts) Wilwood proportioning valve
15.00 (Yearwood Custom) Painless wiring Brake light switch & Tee
20.00 (advance auto parts) Rear Flex Hose

The galaxy master cylinder is a direct bolt on replacement for the "fruit jar", and the rod that came with it is the right length. I mounted my proportioning valve under the dash for ease of adjustment. This called for a little extra line, but I like the results. If anyone would like more pictures or information on doing this conversion, I'd be happy to help.

Thanks for the info and photos!!! I have used the 68 Mustang master cylinder. The Galaxy part number gives us all another option.
I got a kick out of your response because you sound like me. What I liked was that you shopped around for the best prices to keep within the budget. Your list of suppliers also tells me that you are reading streetrod magazines to get info and inspiration. They are a great resource.

The brake light switch works just like the original one, with the exception that the original is mounted on the Master Cylinder. I got a new switch from Yearwood Custom, and also bought their "Tee" connector. This brake light tee can be installed anywhere two lines join together, preferably I think on the rear brake lines. One wire from the switch goes to the brake lights, the other to the fuse panel or wherever. Nothing complicated about it.

I think it is the same, but I can't say for sure. I took my MC off my truck, carried it to the parts store, and asked to see all the 1968 Ford MC's that they had in stock. I wasn't too concerned about rod length becuase that can be modified, though it turned out correct. I just compared the mounting holes of my old MC with the new ones and the galaxy was a good match. Maybe someone else can give a more definitive answer?
