Just received Warrior shackle kit for my '97 Explorer. Any tricks to installation? Does long end of shackle go up or down? I assume I should get new bushings. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.
Where did you buy your kit? How much was it? How much is it going to raise the truck?
As far a install, it really shouldn't matter which way it goes, it's just connecting the two points, but match it up as close to the stock ones as possible.

These shackles are installed with the long end of the shackle UP, and yes it does matter. This allows the shackle to clear the frame under heavy compression of the rear suspension. New bushings are your call. I don't fix what ain't broke, though!
No big tricks to the install, just jack up the under the rear axle and get a set of jackstands under the frame on the rear end of the truck to support the weight of the truck itself. Then slowly lower the truck to set the frame on the jack stands. Then, continue to slowly let the jack down to allow the rear axle to drop to the point where the rear axle is still supported, but you have no pressure on the rear leaf springs. Once you get the weight off the leaf springs, simply swap out your stock shackles for the new ones. Good luck.
