I will be installing an H2 turbo and upgrading the 3.5" downpipe to a 4" that I will custom build myself. Need to break into that 400 rwhp group tired of being stuck at 380 rwhp.
I started the install today at 10:00 am, and I stopped at 10:30 pm, I am not done yet. The first thing you need when doing a job like this is a topside creeper , sure beats laying across the top of the radiator , hood latch and fuel filter. Disconnect the batteries , remove the intercooler tubes , intake y-pipe , those extra fuel line from the fuel mod with regulator , turbo , turbo pedistal , intake plenums , exhaust downpipe , up pipes from the exhaust manifolds and numerous other little pieces that are in the way. Unplug the wiring harness and lay it over to the side.
Alot of people told me I would have to pull the trans to get the up pipes off and back on , but I was lucky and all the bolts came out real easy. After cleaning the heads off I was ready to begin reassemble. Installed the new plenums and the turbo base plate , then the up pipes it would have been a little easier with two people doing this , but I handled it. I then installed the fuel line on the right head , and put the turbo inplace (that thing is a little bit bigger). Now this is where it got a little bit harder. I decided to replace that 3.5" downpipe with a 4" pipe that I would make. Easier said than done , well after 6 hours of work on the pipe I now have a 4" downpipe for the H2. Now I know why there is not a 4" downpipe for it. Lets just say that I don"t think I would ever make another one.
Install the glow plug relay but first add 3 washers on the mounting studs so you don"t crush the intake plenums , because the new ones are taller. Put in the intake y-pipe , which isn"t real easy either , and rest of the fuel lines. Flip the wiring harness back over now and reconnect all the plugins.
That is as far as I got today will finish tomorrow.
It's in and running but need to fab a new intake and propane setup , I can do that later this week. This thing is great it should get me in the 400 rwhp club without a problem. Will post later on the rest of the install when it's complete.
Gene that is one cherry rig! I admire people that have that type of talent and care to do things like this. Those tips are sweet! Where did you get them?
A friend of mine gave me the Bossanni stainless steel tips and then I grafted two 68 degree elbows together welded it all up and put them on the truck. It was a lot of fun.
