full coverage/liability only insurance?

so, I've got a question for ya'll. How old does a truck/car need to be when it's no longer cost effective to carry more than just liability insurance? Yeah, I know, different areas, different coverages, different insurance companies.
But I'm still gonna ask...
I have a 95 toyota pickup and have full coverage on it. Six months of coverage costs $174. In a month, I'll be buying my father-in-laws 94 F150. I already got a quote for the same coverage, cost will be $164/half. No, not expensive, but there's go to be an age of vehicle where any damage caused in an accident will make the insurance co. total the vehicle...

any thoughts on this?

I insure 7 vehicles and our rule of thumb is if the vehicle is worth less that two years of insurance, forget comprehensive. Sounds like your insurance rates are cheap. I'm paying $7000/year for 7 cars which includes two teenage drivers with liability only and comprehensive only on a 94Z28 (built) and 2003 T&C minivan.

I think the thing is 50% or perhaps 2/3 damage in relation to cost of the vehicle deems it totaled. If a vehicle is better than average, get it apraised.

I wll change to liability once my truck is paid off, one I pay 200 a month in insurance with a clean record, two, I have never caused damage to my vehicle, exceot once, which was indignifigant, and the damage to the other vehicle was so cheap as that I paid for it all out of pocket.....granted with a 500 dollar deductable, no point in going to the insurance company for another 50 bucks right?

I don't have collision on anything that, if totaled, I can walk away from, meaning that the loss is not too severe, since I drive like an old fart, if I'm in an accident, it will probably be the other guys fault. So far it has worked for me, the other guys insurance has paid for my last two trucks. (knocking on wood). FSC

In Michigan, we have "no fault" insurance. It sucks because even if you're NOT at fault, if YOU don't have collision, you're screwed.
