I've got a 1998 EB expedition 4X4 that the back end sat down a few days ago. The compressor has quit running but the check suspension light never came on. I checked all the fuses that were labeled with the air leveling system but all were in good shape. I thought the compressor was gone so I took it off this morning and un-plugged it. I then connected the black and red from the compressor straight onto the battery. The compressor started running. I then checke voltage at the place were the compressor connected to but had no voltage. I took it then to a mechanic who said it was probably a relay gone bad but he just called and said he could not find where in the system that was causing this. He said that I was getting fire to the switch and to one of the relays but was not where the compressor plugs in. I called the Ford dealer and he said to bring it on up and they would take care of it. I feel like I need to carry some KY jelley when I go.......HELP
Do a search under LLS or Air ride suspension...there's been tons posted on this. Also try a search under sturge because I have felt your pain and posted many times my dealings with LLS. Here's one that may help you short term...
Thanks Sturge. I checked the relay that was shown in the pictures and it had 12 volts coming to it. I wonder how I can test the relay itself. I still have no voltage at the compressor. Thanks
