Does anyone make a 285/75/R16 in a E rating (10 Ply)?
I went to have a set of Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's installed today. The dealer warned me that I would not get the milage out of the tire that it is rated for because it is a D rated tire (8 Ply) and the weight of the truck would shorten the life of the tire. He did not know of any tire in the 285 size in a 10 ply. I don't want an off-road tire. I spend 99% of my time on-road. I don't want the noise. Any suggestions? Thanks, David
i just checked discount tire, tire rack and 1010 tires and i didnt see an E rated tire but most of the d rated 8 ply tires are rated at over 3k pounds. i cant imagine that they arent strong enough for your road work. i think you just may have run into an inexperienced sales person. the toyo open country a/ts rate at 3305lbs each tire.
not true at all. falken, bfg, toyo, nitto and other manufacturers offer a 50k warranty. the falken, toyos and nittos warranty is 5 years with no specific mileage. bfgoodrich is 6 years or mileage (depending on your tire model) and it startes at 50k miles for commercial tires.
you can verify the warranty on their webpage and nitto can confirm from their customers service dept at their headquaters in cypress, ca.
all tires must have a manufacturers warranty of some type and all tires are regulated through the US Department of Transportation. The firestone incidents have changed the tire industry some bit. its like taillights and other aftermarket items that affect safety. they're all dot regulated.
I have limited experience with tires on my last 2 Superdutys, but here it is,,,
Pro Comp All terrain's,, JUNK,, They did last about 30,000 miles before 2 of them seperated and of course neither 4 wheel parts or Pro Comp Directly would provide any assistance. Cooper Discover A/T's Lasted 57,000 on my 2000 SD, Excellent tiire with little to no noise at all. On My present truck the factory Firestones lasted 39,000 miles and were SLICK, that was after routine rotations and weekly air pressure checks, In My opinion,, JUNK for sure.. In The past i have had several sets of BFG'S, Great tires for sure and always lasted 50-60,000 miles, Just a little pricey i think. Just purchased 4 Cooper 285AT'S to replace my slick firestones and $502.00 TT&L out the door, About a 100 bucks cheaper than the BFG'S i used to run, not to mention Cooper Tire Is the Last American owned tire Co There Is, and ya gotta luv that..
i called 4wheelparts re: a 50k warranty on their a/t tires, they said " that is not a warranty, just a expectation of tire life"
my nittos have no treadwear warranty, i asked, the answer was no....
bfg, i have owned several, and never was givin a treadwear warranty.... i have also always run nittos on my stangs, drag radials, and nt555's....all wore out within 5-10k, and never got any kind of pro rated replacement.
a good freind of mine works for toyo, so ill call him and ask. thanks for the heads up...
i dont know if you got that from a salesman or from nitto. you can contact nitto at

Every tire is rated for wear by the DOT and the manufacturers stamp the rating on the tire. Every manufacturer then has a guarentee on the wear of the tire. the standard of maintenance is rotation, balance and alignment every 5k miles. you must keep documentation on this as well as maintenance records on your vehicle. this is for street and a/t tires.
Howdy all, just registered AND just bought new tires for my '01 Superduty. Cooper does make Load Range E tires in 285-75-16.....I went with the Discoverer STT since I was tired of needing 4wd in wet grass etc.....
They fill the wheel well up a little more as they are 33.1 inches tall. They do make noise on the road though so if you prefer ride quality over all out performance you probably won't like them.
I double checked, and these are in fact D and not E load rated.
