NoMo,

What's "workamping"? Is it involved with "land management"
like bushhogging and clearing? Your avatar is in the Cherokee
tongue too... I wish I could learn that... because I am also
Cherokee... but what does it say?

Thanks!

Workamping is where one 'works' in exchange for a camping site. We're being "camp hosts". However, I do need to do some field mowing... gotta get a tractor first.

The avatar says O-si-yo (Hello). One of the very few words I know.

Exclamation Progress so far...

this is excerpted form the "Chapter Leader" announcement
by our webmaster:

"Each Chapter needs to start discussing nominations for its Chapter Leader. I strongly urge each region to consider the current Chapter Moderator for inclusion in their list of nominations. Moderators will be overseeing nomination discussions and placing a poll in the forum when the group is ready for elections."

Fellow Okies,

This really sums it all up. Notice the word "nominations" in the first sentence.
And what the third sentence says. This is exactly why I chose to withdraw
because in fact I cannot nominate myself. And that's why I posted what I did. And publicly apologized for my action. If I am nominated by anyone for
this position it will be based on that person's confidence in my continued
potential for leadership and nothing more. As Chapter Moderator, I have to
leave myself out of this and conduct matters with neutrality and fairness.

There must be among you others who are willing to step up to this post
and assume its responsibilities. For those of you who wish to do so, please
find me to be your greatest advocate and support in what you propose
to do. I am already doing things to set our organization in motion, so that
whoever becomes Chapter Leader will have a set of "reins" to be handed to them, by me. I am not an incumbent you must compete against, nor will I be.
Even though in my position I cannot nominate another or vote without
demonstrating bias, I stand in support of FTE Oklahoma, and whoever is at
the helm of the Chapter and I will serve the Chapter members interests and needs.

In my profession, we have a goal- to restore health to the best potential,
or to provide support, comfort and dignity to those who face death.
Because of this we work toward our own form of obsolescence-
"The best nurse is the one that's not needed anymore."

For me, this is another hat to wear, and continuation of what I'm doing
already. But for some of you it is the opportunity to step up and make
a large difference in something outside yourself. So do it. I will stand
with you. And if it is to be me to do this, rest asssured that in time I will hand
the reins over to someone else by election. After all, there is no "life term". You can only drive so far before you have to have someone else take over because of your own fatigue.

And this is a journey... ours... and the Oklahoma Chapter. So, to the task
at hand, please. Time is wasting. On 04/22/04 I will call for closure of all
nominatory bids and the opening of the Election Poll.

your moderator and fellow Okie

Mark

once again, I think Mark has shown himself to be the best suited individual for the position. Anyone else want it?...... I haven't heard anybody else stand up for it. So Mark, being the glutton for punishment that you claim to be, seem to be the groups chosen representative. When can we vote on this to make it official?

OK By me....I don't see anybody else actively pursuing the position. From the comments I've read most everyone is in agreement. You got my vote Mark....

I also, would like to nominate Mark, aka white_knight. Sorry Mark, I don't think I can efficiently control the "reins" with my current obligations.(working fulltime, school at night, toddler, house projects, garage projects, etc...) But, if you need a back up or secondary, I can help!

Exclamation Alrighty then...

Alright guys,

If this is really how it is... and it's because of
other things in your lives that would not allow
you to devote a measure of time to this, I
understand. That just makes sense. But- don't
let it be for any lesser reason. I am no better
than any of you for this. In some ways I consider
myself as less. This is why I will ask what I will now.

The Nomination period will remain open out of
fairness to those who would consider this position
and would reach for it. But- if it comes down to
the Closure date, and no one else stands forth,
I will post the Election Poll with two options-
me or later. "Later" meaning to let time pass, for
others to consider this position. Either way I'm OK
with it if you all are.

If I am to be the Chapter Leader, it will be for a set
period of one year, no more. Then elections will open
again and a new Leader, or reelection of the previous
leader will occur. This initial term will be one of structuring
the Chapter, and I, or whoever we elect will name a
Cabinet of the Chapter to handle the business of organizing
it. Also Region Leaders and ancillary staff will be established
to link us to each other in a more effective fashion. Region
leaders will be elected, and will name their cabinets in the
fashion of the Chapter Leader and the Chapter Cabinet.
Every one must share the load of this task. I will not bear
it alone, nor will the one we elect as Chapter Leader.

This can happen. And it requires decision. On the part of all here.
If I'm correct, it took a group of less than 100 men nearly 2 1/2
centuries ago to form what is now known as the United States of
America. How hard can it really be?

Just don't take 2 1/2 centuries to decide it though...

Okay, from what I am gathering after reading this entire post, is that perhaps Mark does not want to bear the entire burden of this.
Mark, I am not sure exactly what you are looking for (even after reading this post 2 times), however, I am, and will be more than happy to maybe be a 2nd man for you or whatever you think is best. If this means I am nominating myself, then so be it, I just dont want Mark to feel like he is the only one that is willing to see this chapter grow. I mean, I have alot of things to do too, I work a full-time job, a weekend job, and I also attend college 5 days a week. We all have alot to do, however, I believe that if we have the time to come to this website and post, than we have the time help this site, and bear the burden. Please everybody, dont think that I am trying to be rude at all, I just DONT want Mark to feel obligated to do this because none of us are willing too. Anyways, some speech eh???

Would all those who would like to lead the OK forum please throw your hat in the ring.

Traxxis, having a co-moderator isn't a bad at all. Being a moderator on another forum ( not truck related ) have found this setup to be very helpful, especially with trolls.

That sounds good Traxxis. Maybe Mark could have a backup, and the backup could have a backup?

Thanks for taking that the right way guy's, lol, I really thought that I was gonna offend somebody. I think we should have a back up for the back up We'll just create ourselfs a little parliment (with each of us partaking in our own position in the checks and balance system).
