ID Plate location

Is the ID plate supposed to be rivited inside the glove box on a 56?

I havent looked there for one, but there is one on the driver side door jamb

I have the plate, loose, in the glove box, but I do not know where to put it?

open up the drivers door and on the cowl side of the jamb there are 4 holes for the vin tag.

Kevin is correct for the 56. If I remember correctly, mine was screwed on with 4 phillips head sheat metal screws. 53-55 were on the glove box door.
