Hello,
Wondering if someone could give me help decoding my Ford's Vin. Just bought it about two weeks ago and although things have changed on it, I am curious of the original equipment. Numbers are F1OC9R21196, 110, XE, F1OC, 07A, B, O2.
Also wondering about placing headers on the truck. It currently has a '74 390 under the hood and clearances look tight by the steering shaft. Any one else running a big block and have success with a header installation?
Wow, what a great color code on your truck - Goldenrod and white!
Looks like you've got a rather hefty Effie there. Mine is originally Goldenrod, but no two-tone. Yours must be a Custom Cab. ARe you going to at lease repaint it originally? I haven't checked your gallery to see if you have pics yet, but get 'em on if you don't!
F1OC9R21196
F10 = F100
C = 292 V8 w/2bbl carb
9 = Year 1959
R = Built at the San Jose plant
21196 = Consecutive Unit No.
110 = Wheelbase
XE = Goldenrod Yellow/Corinthian White
F10 = F100 2 wheel drive
07A = Built January 7th, 1959
B = 3 speed w/Overdrive
02 = 3:89
Sixoh,
Thanks for help with the decode. Golden Rod and White. Nice. Unfortunately someone painted it purple before I got it. However the original colors can still be seen in the dash. It was repainted black but they did a poor job and it's peeling off. Here I thought the truck was put together from a couple different trucks, because of the paint differences. Just threw a gallery toghether today, check it out under purple'59. Thanks.
I figured the same thing about my truck. The interior was rattle-canned black by someone and it's peeling off and there's yellow showing through all over. The truck's Indian Turquoise now, but the tailgate is Holly green under the turquoise, and the bed is yellow/black/red! Who know what that thing's been through! I was thinking of naming it Chips AHoy!
I think you've got me beat on the peeling interior tho'! Yeah, yours is a Custom Cab, you can tell by the guage face. And it looks like it's a 4x4? Crazy. As a Custom Cab w/Big Back Window, it's worth a little more than the standard, small window trucks.
I was checking the '59 out and saw the hornbutton(not a custom-cab piece by the way) and could you take another shot? It looks like a pwr steering hornring. Nice truck, -4speed
Sixoh,
Yeah it's an original rear wheel drive, but when it was parked ten years ago the last owner began a conversion. Don't know if I'll finish it to 4x but I like the ride height.
4speed,
I'll take another shot and post it tomorrow. It says Ford with five stars imprinted on it.
Sorry it took a while to get these. They actually expect me to be productive while I'm at work! Anyways I took some shots of the steering wheel and horn button. They're posted in my gallery under non other than you might have guessed...steering wheel. You said it's not a custom cab piece and is probably for power steering. Was this the standard wheel for all trucks then? With power steering that is.
Pic's aren't working. Try reducing them in size and uploading them again. if that doesn't work, send them my way via e-mail at: m r 4 s p e e d f o r d @ n e o . r r . c o m (take out spaces, the forum doesn't allow e-mail's to be posted). The custom cab's actually had a differnt steering wheel, with a hornring(for a custom cab horn ring see my gallery) and the center of the horn ring said "power steering". Not a big deal though, as your trucks far from stock anyhow. -4speed
Yeah, there seems to be a problem uploading the pics. I don't have any software to change the size so I'll have to shoot them to your email. I'm glad that I'm not going for a full resto. Too much work. I'll save that for someone who is dying to have a '59 F100. She sat for 10 years and I thought she needed a home. Make it run good, and look nice with all the help from guys like you at FTE and have fun driving it is my plan. By the way, great looking truck!
