Cool, thanks for the info! Now, were the 25000 mile rebuilds and frequent oil changes due to the quality of the engines and oil at the time, or due to not having pcv? Sorry, I'm playing devils advocate, trying to learn something I don't know much about.

thanks for the info. i was just curios about that. i can see where that wouldn't help me because i'm not spining the rpms at 9 gs all the time. the down draft tubes do make a mess though don't they. i have them on my two late sixtys kaiser jeeps ( military five tons) but i don't get the sludge. the oil does get pretty dirty.
