I remember a little while ago there were a couple guys asking about 5" exhaust tips. I put one on today. It still sounds pretty much the same as it did with the plain 4" exhaust, from the outside standing by the tip it sounds a little mellower (if that's a word:P ) but at the same time kinda ecco-y (is that a word too??:-) ). Much like what putting "ecco tips" on a gasser would do. And it sure looks better.
Well, just wanted to pass that along for the folks who were asking about them. I'll see if I can take a picture when it gets light out.

As a rule, 5" pieces are easier to locate than 6". I'm playing with the idea of going to a 6" system behind the muffler, or at least a 6" tip.

I wanted to flare out to a 5" affter the muffler and take it over the axle like I have it now, but it was going to cost to much to get the 90's and 45's I'd need to make the 'hump'. I thought about flex pipe but I've had bad experiances with it in the past and dont want to use it. It's not much more to go to a 6" so when the money comes in I'll probably do that. In the mean time I like the looks of the 5' tip.
thanks for the info! i am still debating on what to do, i really would like to get all the information i can on what a 4" tailpipe and maybe a 5" tip. i'm really not looking for all that much more power but a person can never get enough of it! mainly i am interested in sound and looks. i am doing more shopping everday, but after Christmas i will probably get something. thanks again!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Dec-02 AT 07:35 PM (EST)]From a power output standpoint, unless you create more than 450hp, a 4" system is all you need. What I'm looking for by going to a 6" system is "Oh my God!!" appeal.

Scott, I wish you could see Byron's in person. I swear that thing looks like he ran over a sewer pipe and it got stuck to his truck. On top of that he runs it straight piped! It's deffinatly a head turner That's one awesome truck he's got. He's a smart guy, he just pictures these things in his head (his fuel system and the HP pump thing are a couple of the many things) and builds them and they always work! Just wait till he's done with his current turbo and intake project!!!
