Cold speedometer

My speedometer is acting weird. I have a 91 f150 and when i bought the truck the odometer and speedometer didnt work. i had it fixed and now only when it is cold the speedometer says i am going way faster than i really am. like sometimes in 2nd gear it reads 70mph. does the really cold weather have some sort of effect on the gears in the speedo or what? thanks in advance for any info

I have the same thing happen to me, think it's water freezing in the cable that runs it or something, I just learned to live with it and stopped worrying, as long as it works fine otherwise.
