88 power windows & locks
I took my drivers door off for some repairs & immediatly after taking it off the power windows & door locks for the passenger side quit working.
I checked the fuses today & they seem ok. I also hooked up the wiring from another F-150 door to see if the hanesses would have to be intact for them to work, unfortunatly that didn't work either.
Do both doors have to be bolted to the cab & harnesses connected to get the windows & locks to work on my passenger door as well?
This is because the switches are wired similarly to a 3-way switch in your house. This prevents the passenger from trying to push the window down which puts voltage across the window motor, and the driver from pushing the window up, which applies voltage in the opposite direction.
If it was not like this, you'd be blowing fuses when this occurs. Its a sorta lock out "feature".
No, not on mine that I know of.
I guess I'm going to have to wait till I bolt another door on to find out for sure. Just thought I would ask just in case there is a problem I could tackle in quickly before I reasseble the doors.

You were replying while I was typing. So both doors have to be bolted up for them to work?
I did hook another F-150 door up today & it still didn't work. But the other door wasn't bolted up to the cab to create a ground point.
