Is this the best forum to ask interior questions. I plan to customize the dash to my 79 f250, I would like info on instrument clusters, seating, etc...
my 79 f250 interior is trashed. Not a single usable piece. Instead of reinstalling stock parts - can I change seats, steering column etc... Ideally, I would like to replicate some new interior from a donor truck. Is this possible?
Well it all depends on the year model of the donor truck. The seats would be fairly easy to swap out but i dont know about the. dash. if you change the dash, the metal part of it will be hard to ge out, also im sure it provides at least some structural integrity to the cab. I could be wrong though
If I remember right a steering column from an 80's truck will work in ours. You can add a tilt column, fancy steering wheel, etc. Seats are easy to install, just hard to decide on. You can replace with a modern bench seat, go to bucket seats, get a 60/40, etc. There are a lot of different options there. Tons of people want to replace guages and that's a little tricky as no company really makes a replacement guage cluster for these trucks. I'd never thought of just replacing the entire dash from a newer truck. That may work, it just unbolts but you will have to fiddle with the heat controls and routing your vents and such.
Is there a particular truck you're looking at stripping for this or just want to grab misc items from different trucks?
I've seen a '78 crew with a '96 dash, column, seats, and door panels with pw and pdl. not sure how much customizing was required, but it was a beautiful job.
