I have replaced wiper motor, control arm and speed modules but still have no wipers when truck, 96 Ranger, gets to operating temp. I've talked to Ford garage, they don't seem to know. Can someone help?
I believe on earlier 90's Rangers there is a 6 Amp circuit breaker for the wipers somwhere, probably in the fuse panel or in the fuse box under the hood. Did you check for something like that in your '96?
Also, the multifunction switch/stalk has a major role in the wiper curcuit, have you considered it as a possible culprit?
I would check for corrosion on the wires and any connector that has anything to do with the wipers. it seems to be a temp related (or moisture) problem. that tells me intermittant connections.
Thanks Rockledge I have changed the switch stalk out, as the old one wasn't connecting. I haven't checked for the 6 amp fuse though, will try that.
Thanks to you also revert00, I have checked connections but not when at operating temps.
I checked a private mechanic, he suggested the GEM, which I priced, I don't want to get that until other posibilities are checked.

I didn't know that the '96 uses the GEM for the wipers. In that case, your wiper circuit may be more like my the one in my '98, which has two wiper-related relays (Run/Park & Hi/Lo) located in the power distribution box under the hood, and also a fuse for the wipers in the passenger fuse box panel. Relays can be prone to heat-related problems...
Also, a Ford dealer, or a mechanic with the proper scan tool, can retrieve diagnostic troble codes that are specifically related to the GEM. These codes are not accessible with a conventional off-the-shelf scanner. So maybe some further diagnostics can confirm a bad GEM.
