D60 Problems
Need a little guidance here if at all possible. I have a '97 F250HD PSD with a D60 front end ('89-'94 model years). For some reason the snap rings on the ends of the outer axles (has happened on both sides) keep popping off. I was wondering if anyone has a picture of, or break-down of, what needs to be in there. I have about 1/4" in/out play on the axle (excessive?). Don't know if I am conveying my problem clearly but hey, its early. Thanks for any and all help.

You need that end play for when you turn. The axle shaft actually slides in and out. If you have someone turn the wheel while you look at it you will see what i'm talking about. For the snap rings. If they have been on and off several times they are stretched out. You need to replace them with new ones. Hope this helps.
