Can someone tell me where the drain is for the fuel filter on a 1994 F250 7.3 Turbo Deisel engine?
I can't see or feel any tap under the filter.
There are wires so I'm assumimg them to be sensor wires.
The drain pipe comes right from the centre of the bottom of the filter. There is a brass nut holding it in place.
How do I drain this?
Hmmmmmm not really sure i have a 99 model and their is a yellow handel behind the fuel filter area and on mine i just turn it and that drains the water seperator. And if i remember right it turns towards the back of the truck.hope that helps.
As I recall, you could get either turbo diesel engine in 1994 depending on the month in which it was built. If the engine is painted gray it is the IDI turbo diesel and if it is painted black it it a Power Stroke. The early Power Strokes had a black plastic lever on the filter housing that had to be rotated toward the fire wall to open (very similat to the current models except the handle is yellow on the current models). The IDI engine had a thumb screw on the bottom of the filter that you had to open to drain it.
I have a 93 F250, when I open the drain nothing comes out.
Does that mean I don't have any water or that it's not working?
Is water just supposed to come out, or will some diesel come out
with it? Also do you have to have the truck running when you do this?I have had the truck for about a year now, and the three or four times I checked nothing came out.
When I drain the bowl on my tractor, diesel comes out with the water
but I don't know if it's supposed to do the samething on the truck.
I'm very interested in the answers to questions in the las two posts, if anyone would be so kind.
I had my first service done yesterday and when I asked the tech to make sure and check the bowl, he looked at me like I was stupid. He said it didn't need to be done until 15k. I made them check it anyway.
>I have a 97' PSD and when i turn the the yellow handle all
>it does is drain the fuel from the filter housing .
that's what it's suppose to do. If any water is in there it will come out first cuz water is heaver then fuel. If you just get fuel that's a good thing. your suppose to drain fuel bowl once a month or every oil change. In reality is doesn't matter how often you drain the bowl.just as long as you do it.
Thanks everyone for your input.I'll be draining every oil change to play it safe.At the same time, try and figure out which gas station has the most water in it's in fuel.
Thanks again!!

For what it's worth, my truck has an idiot light on the dash that indicates water in fuel. I've never gotten any water out of mine, and the light has never come on.
Just my $.02.
Funny you should say that, I have an 86 F250 with a 6.9 and the water in fuel light is always on. Glowing lightly but always on. I drain the separator every 3-4k mile but the light is constantly on. I know it's shorted somewhere, any idea where a good place to start would be? Thanks, Bob
Those old fuel water separators are notorious for leaking. Keep an eye on it; since it is on the vacuum side you get air sucked in your fuel line when it leaks.
