pyro and egt are the same thing I think. If you are on a budget, that's the one I would get. IMHO

Do you want to mount them on the pillar, top of dash, or low into a 3 gauge panel below the cubby area.. (Kinda cool and out of the way, but not as "eye" convienent as the others).. Many vendors sell pods/panels/plates and prices will vary quite a bit..Shop around..The ISSPRO gauges are made very well, (priced well) and are almost a perfect match too your dash gauges/speedo and iluminate through the "gauge panel" and not just shinning/reflective on the front of the meter.. I bought mine through Diesel Injection Service..Nice people, and prices are reasonable..

Pyrometer is most important.
If you have an auto tranny then I would say tranny temp is next.
Boost is last.
Boost is nice to know, but you do not really need it.
Tranny can cook.
The motor can and will cook in stock form. If you boost the fuel up it will get hotter than you, or it can stand. (Pistons installed cost lots of money) That is why I say pyrometer is most important.

Pyrometer measures exhaust gas temperature. I would most certainly recommend the new electronic gauges from Quadzilla (www.quadzillapower.com) it saves dash clutter by having all 3 in one integrated digital unit, plus you can read it alot easier at night being lighted. They also will blink colors if any of the temp/boost parameters get out of the range you set them at. Dumb question for you guys, while were in this discussion...is there a benefit to adding another tranny temp gauge? I mean, on the 6.0L's theres one on the dash already...just curious as to if its not accurate or something, i notice alot of people recommend them.

I keep seeing the same thing. I didn't get the tranny temp gauge as there was one in my dash already. I said why? This is my first automatic PSD do maybe I am missing something also...

A Pyrometer is used to measure Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT), so an EGT gauge and a Pyrometer gauge are the same thing.

I got the BD-Power X-monitor. It has the Pyro, Tranny, and Boost display all in one compact unit that doesn't require the removal of the hand grip.

BD also has an optional cool engine shut down module that works with the X-Monitor to keep the motor running until the turbo temp has dropped to a user configured value.

I got all three because the Ford tranny temp is not "numbered" and pulling is all I do.
So temp, boost and egt.........they look cool too
